Exile Brewing Co. is back! This weekend we will be opening our beer hall for afternoon appetizers on Saturday, August 4th. Chef Tim Garton has selected his five favorite appetizers to serve to the public, from noon until 8pm. Order one (or all 5!) and enjoy the afternoon in Des Moines’ Western Gateway.
Moving later into the night we will also open our late night bar, after hosting our second weekend of beer dinners. The bar will be open 9:00pm to 2am. We will continue to carry local and regional craft beer on tap (brewing will start here later this week), as well as a fully stocked bar and wine list from our family at Tursi’s Latin King. Last weekend was full of surprises (poncho anyone?), come find out what happens this weekend!

Come for the party, stay for the rain!
This past weekend, Exile Brewing Co. opened its doors to the public for the first time. Hours of preparation would be tested as we welcomed old and new friends to share our project with. It started on Friday with our first beer dinner. Chef Tim and the kitchen team were anxious to start feeding hungry patrons and all of their hours of hard work paid off. Each course was greeted with open arms and departed with empty plates. There were even a few suggestions that we venture into the pudding business (to be determined)!

First beer dinner course list
This weekend was also the debut of our late night bar. With only one week of training under their belt, the bar staff jelled quickly and pulled together as Exile Brewing Co. hosted Des Moines’ night owls for the first time. There were a few surprise visitors, including Mother Nature who refused to watch the party from outside the garage door, as well as our new neighbors The Gaslamp who came to welcome us to the Western Gateway neighborhood.

Things are taking shape and we are excited to open our doors again! We will be back at it this Friday and Saturday for another round of beer dinners, starting at 6:00 pm each night. To reserve your seat, contact Margaux Haines at 515-883-2337 or mh@exilebrewing.com. It was a great weekend full of fun, laughter, and relief to finally share this with everyone. We appreciate everyone who stopped by and all of the calls of congratulations we’ve received. This couldn’t been done without each and every one of you and we are extremely grateful for your continued support over the past 2 years. See you soon!
This Friday and Saturday, after hosting our first weekend of beer dinners, we will be opening our bar from 10:30pm – 2am. Our beer is not quite ready, so we’ve teamed up with a few local and regional breweries to have beer on tap, as well as a fully stocked bar and cocktail list. Come discover what we’ve been up to the past two years.
Cheers!

We’ve almost reached the starting line. For more than two years we’ve worked towards this moment. With help from family and friends, and scores of support from all of you, our dream is finally becoming a reality.

Final touches for the Annex
Final preparations are underway. Months of construction are almost complete as crews check off the last remaining details. Tanks have arrived. Booth and bar counters are being installed. Floors have been sealed. Beer dinners are coming quick and filling up fast. John, our Head Brewer, has returned from Scotland and will be arriving in less than a week to experiment and craft ales and lagers. Training for servers and bartenders begins Monday, while Tim and the culinary team have scrubbed and polished every inch of the kitchen in anticipation of food deliveries.

The kitchen, ready and waiting.
We’ve navigated our way through long hours, late nights, some stress, and tons of laughs to reach the starting line at Exile Brewing Co. We’re excited to share this project with Des Moines and looking forward to the stories that will be created with full stomachs and tankards of beer in hand!
